Oliver Smith has joined the MiTEQ family as Infrastructure Technician Apprentice.
With qualifications in Graphics & Games Design and experience in customer service, Ollie's interests revolve around first principles: learning how things work at a ground level, then figuring out which building blocks can be slotted together to create functional, user-friendly solutions.
We spent some time chatting with Ollie, learning about his role at MiTEQ, and exploring how he will be adding value to MiTEQ's budding ecosystem of customers, partners and employees.

"Despite being new to the field of enterprise technology, I've been interested in the ins and outs of technology for as long as I can remember. I'm excited to have the opportunity to learn more about the gritty, technical aspects of enterprise solutions and see how they impact the way businesses function and the way customers engage with a brand. "Outside of work, I love playing football and relish the opportunity to watch a live match. I also love playing video games with my mates. When I'm not cheering Liverpool on or gaming with friends, I'm thinking about how I can fulfil my aspirations to travel more. People are often surprised to hear that Germany is top of the list out of all the countries I'd like to visit more."
Helping Customers Appreciate What's Possible
"Joining MiTEQ, it didn't take long for me to realise that there is a lot of technology available to businesses. For businesses trying to future-proof operations, the sheer scale of options can be overwhelming and knowing how new systems might slot into a business' existing ways of working can be difficult.
In my role as an Infrastructure Technician Apprentice, I hope to learn as much as I can about the technical aspects of our solutions, so that I can help customers appreciate what is actually possible, and work through the best ways of integrating new systems with what's customers are already using.
If you're wondering, "what does that actually mean?", it basically means that I'm the "techie guy" that will try and help your technology run smoothly."
Dinner With Three People, Dead Or Alive...
1. Robert Lewandowski (Footballer) - Lewandowski is someone I look up to for his work both on and off of the football pitch. His drive and desire to always be the best version of himself is something that inspires me, and I'd love to ask him more about all he's involved with.
2. Mo Salah (Footballer) - again, on the football trend...Mo Salah is one of my favourite players at Liverpool FC, so I have lots of questions to ask him, like: "how can one human be so good at using their left foot and another be so bad?".
3. Tom Ellis (Actor) - As one of my favourite actors, I would love to have a meal with Tom Ellis to talk about how he got into character for the programme "Lucifer". I imagine he put in lots of work behind the scenes to bring that character to life!"
